Who We Are
Supporting brands that prioritise ethical standards in their production and don’t put profit over people and planet should be the bare minimum, not the exception.
We’re not looking for perfection. Our goal is to promote brands that have ethical values as part of their purpose and their mission. The aim is to push consumers to shop more ethically. Not perfect, but better.
We find that one of the top reasons people don’t shop ethically is simply because it’s too inconvenient to do your research and when a brand isn’t perfect, they then think “ah they’re all the same! I’ll just shop at SHEIN or Zara.”
We’re here to change that.
OUR STORY
But Better was started out of frustration with how difficult ethical shopping actually is in practice.
Finding brands that align with your values often requires time, research and a level of effort that does not reflect how people naturally shop. It means reading through brand policies, cross-checking claims and trying to piece together whether something is genuinely responsible or just well-marketed.
Even once you find brands you trust, the experience is fragmented. Many ethical brands operate within a specific niche, which means jumping between multiple sites to find the pieces you actually want. It’s not a seamless or enjoyable process.
There’s also a common misconception that shopping ethically is unaffordable. However:
Affordable ethical brands DO EXIST. They just require a little more effort to find, probably because they might not have large marketing budgets and operate on much smaller scales to keep prices low.
While it’s true that ethical brands will never be as cheap as SHEIN or Temu, that gap reflects real differences in how products are made. Lower prices often come at the expense of labour conditions and production standards.
Ethical or sustainable brands also get a reputation for having boring styles or being catered towards a less ‘trendy’ demographic, but that’s not a reality! The products and brands we promote on this site aim to match the level of relevance and aesthetic appeal that people expect when they shop anywhere else — but better.
We exist to bring all of this into one place.
The aim is to reduce the effort, improve access and make it easier to find options that align with both your style and your values, without requiring you to compromise on either.
Created to make shopping ethically more convenient and accessible, so we can move away from fast fashion and toward a future where we can look and feel good without destroying the world.
